Making sure that students get their ballots as soon as they arrive is a priority for Mail Services. Students will receive emails indicating that they have a ballot to pick up, and will receive additional reminders after 48-hours without picking them up. Any student who is expecting a ballot can reach out to mailservices@georgetown.edu if they have questions or concerns about the delivery of their ballot.
There are several ways that student packages are delivered and made available for pickup. Please note that packages will be held for a maximum of 30 days. Packages unclaimed after 30 days will be returned to the sender.
Amazon Package Delivery and Pickup
When ordering items from Amazon.com, we encourage you to consider selecting a campus pickup location during checkout rather than providing your direct campus address for a smoother delivery process.
Blue Georgetown Lockers (non-Amazon packages)
Non-Amazon packages (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS) will be delivered through Mail Services to the blue package lockers located in the LXR lobby, Kennedy Hall lobby and the Leavey Center North Gallery. Packages are automatically routed to the locker location nearest your residence hall. You will receive an email notification with a QR code and pin when a package is ready for pickup from the lockers.
Leavey Mail Room (Leavey Center North Gallery)
Oversized non-Amazon packages that do not fit inside the blue Georgetown lockers will be distributed out of the Leavey Center student mail room, located in the North Gallery next to Royal Jacket and Starbucks. You will receive an email notification when you have a package ready for pickup from the Leavey Mail Room.
Letter Mail
Student letter mail can be picked up at the Leavey Mail Room. GOCard or other photo identification is required.
During peak volume, a temporary distribution location will be established to handle the large number of student packages. This is typically during the Fall and Spring move-in period. This pickup location will be open the same hours as the mail room. You will receive an email notification when you have a package ready for pickup from the Leavey Ballroom.

The Leavey Center Mail Room will be open for student mail and oversized packages to be picked up Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. GOCard or other photo identification is required.

There are three banks of package smart lockers. These banks are located in the LXR lobby, Kennedy Hall lobby, and the Leavey Center North Gallery. Non-Amazon packages are automatically routed to the locker bank nearest your residence hall. The Leavey Center North Gallery can be accessed: 1.) Through the hotel lobby after coming up West Road that follows along Yates Field House and Cooper Field. 2.) Through the Leavey Center parking garage pathway adjacent to MedStar construction. Take the stairs or elevator to the first level. 3.) Via the Leavey Center bridge main entrance, past Sellinger Lounge, and through the North Corridor.
There may be a delay between when a package is marked as “delivered” to Georgetown University by the carrier, and when it is ready to be picked up on campus.
All external carriers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc) deliver mail and packages directly to the Mail Services centralized receiving location on campus. Once they arrive, mail and packages need to be sorted student vs administrative, scanned into our system, and delivered to the correct location on campus.
Rest assured, once your package is ready to be picked up, Mail Services will notify you via email.
It is your responsibility to transport all packages, however large they may be, to your residence. We suggest you bring a friend or a dolly of some sort to assist. Unfortunately, Mail Services does not have carts or bins to loan out for this function.
All mail and packages for students no longer residing on campus will be returned to sender immediately. All unclaimed mail and packages for students residing on campus will be returned to sender 30 days after they have been received, however, students will receive a final notification when the 30 day mark is approaching.
Mail Services strongly encourages students to notify all friends, family, and important contacts that you have a pending address change so as not to delay future mailings and shipments. Please also remember to update default address profiles for online merchants.
Yes, as long as your friend or colleague is approved to be on campus, you can authorize that individual to pick up your letter mail or packages by emailing mailservices@georgetown.edu and copying that individual on the email.
